So. I was on vacation for most of August, then went on retreat, then moved into Macklin, lost our rector, and now I have internet. Pretty eventful time.
Our retreat was preached by Archbishop Raymond Roussin of Vancouver. He preached a great series of conferences on the Our Father. It was quite enlightening.
Then, I moved into the old priest’s suite in the St. Anthony’s convent in Macklin. It’s a pretty nice place and I spent the first week unpacking and eating. Fr. David Tumback & I were invited to several different places for supper & lunch.
In the evening of Thursday, September 2, I received a sad phone call from Andy. Fr. Louis-Paul Gauvreau, our rector at St. Joseph Seminary in Edmonton, died just after supper that evening, leaving all of us who were close to him in a fair bit of shock. I was in Edmonton for the past few days for the funeral, paying my last respects (well, in this world, anyway!) to one of the most gentle people I have ever known. Fr. Louis-Paul was a remarkable example of a true pastor and will be missed. Please keep him and all of us in your prayers – these last few days haven’t been the easiest.
Now I’m back in Macklin and have internet! :-) So feel free to drop me an email or comment below!
Update – 12 September, 2004 @ 22:47: Holy crap. I can’t believe I didn’t include this. Now I feel so embarrassed. My brother, David, got engaged to Roxanne a couple of weeks ago today! Woo hoo! Congrats, you two!
